Watch Out Mushrooms Are About?

Hey Woofa’s,

What I mean by this is – we’ve had a lot of rain lately where I live!

And I’ve noticed little mushrooms growing in our lawn both out the front and the backyard!

This concerns me because not only for Billy but also my customer’s dogs who are always walking around (on a lead) sniffing all over our front lawn.

I don’t want Billy or any other dog ingesting the mushrooms and getting sick, or worse dying!!!

I always try to be diligent with this stuff because I’d be horrified if something happened.

These kind of mushrooms only show up after we’ve had a lot of rainfall.

I’m always carefully picking them out so no dog can get to them.

Some dogs will put anything in their mouths, especially puppies.  So I do everything I can to leave nothing for them to put in their mouths.

You may think, oh they’re only mushrooms what harm could they do??

Baby Brutus’ Story!

Have you heard about what happened to ‘The Rock’s – Dwayne Johnson’s French Bulldog, Brutus??

It’s absolutely devastating to lose a loved and cherished furry family member.

So in memory of Baby Brutus lets learn from this and be diligent about our surroundings for our dog’s sakes!

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Without being a mushroom expert it’s hard to know which ones are poisonous and which ones are okay!

I’ve no doubt that there are apps and google searches you can do to figure it all out!!

With that being said, I just get rid of any mushrooms growing in the lawn, garden beds or even pot plants!

Best to err on the side of caution.

Put on some gardening gloves and pick them out and chuck them in the bin.

Also be aware when you’re out walking your dog, keep them away from anything that doesn’t look like it should be eaten.

Billy isn’t interested in eating while we’re out, it’s part of his anxiety.

However, some dogs will put their mouths to anything.

If you have one that does this, keep them away from any fungus that’s growing.

Teach them the ‘leave it’ command or ‘recall’, so when you call them they come to you.
