Have You Seen Annie – The Musical?

Hey Woofa’s,

Some of you might be wondering what Annie – The Musical has to do with dogs!

And that’s understandable.

Unless you’ve seen the show yourself.

Dean, Mum and I went and saw the show on Sunday.

I bought the tickets for my Mum’s birthday, we usually do the Sunday Matinee.

This way we catch the train into the City, have some lunch before the show, see the show and then return on the train.

It makes for a lovely day.

Sunday the sun was shining lovely on this autumn day.

What’s this got to do with dogs?

Bear with me.

WHAT’S ANNIE – THE MUSICAL GOT TO DO WITH DOGS?

The basic story of Annie is about a young 11 year old girl who was left in an orphanage as a young baby.

She’s still waiting for her parents to come back for her.

Orphanage life isn’t great, she runs away but gets found out and taken back.

On her stint in the street she finds a stray dog and names him Sandy.

Through trials and tribulations she ends up being adopted by a billionaire – Mr Oliver Warbucks who learns that there’s more to life than money!

In the musical, the end is Christmas Day where her orphanage friends get to come and spend Christmas Day with Annie who is gifted a dog.

Now, watching this all unfold on stage is amazing.

Hearing the audience all gush (awwwww) when Sandy (the Groodle) first appears on stage is awesome.

Watching Annie sing – The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow with Sandy by her side is exhilarating.

Seeing Sandy (who is played by two different Groodles) run onto the stage, sit there and be obedient while the show plays out, is fantastic.

Each time the dogs appear the audience is lifted even higher.

Even in the closing scene when a big gift is rolled under the Christmas Tree, everyone held their breath just wishing and hoping that Sandy was in that box.

And guess what, he was!!!

Everyone in the audience clapped louder and cheered when Sandy jumps out of the box.

Annie’s life starts anew, she’d adopted, she’s with her friends and now she has her dog.

It’s truly an amazing show well worth going to see.

The people next to us had a 4 hour train trip into the City and another 4 hours back, just to see the show!!!!

ANNIE – THE MUSICAL AND THE RSPCA!!

Another thing Annie – The Musical has to do with dogs is that they are raising money for the RSPCA.

At the end of every show, Anthony Warlow and co talk about how they are advocates for the RSPCA and animals who need homes.

They also offer to donate as you leave the theatre!

This made my heart melt even more.

Here were these amazing talented people and they took the time to raise money towards a great cause.

Animals who need rescuing.

Truly amazing.

WHAT IS THE RSPCA?

Straight from their website –

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals; New South Wales (RSPCA NSW) is an Australian not-for-profit organisation that treats, protects, and rehomes animals.

As a charity, we strive to ensure that no animal is turned away or forgotten, regardless of whether they are abandoned, neglected, injured, or surrendered into our care.

With goals like empowering and educating communities to improve animal welfare in NSW, we acknowledge the role that humans play in protecting all creatures, great and small.

I thought it was fantastic that Annie – The Musical would take the time to raise money for such a good cause.

Some of the cast even mentioned how they had rescue animals at home!!

WHAT’S DOES THIS MEAN?

Annie – The Musical is not only a fantastic theatre show!

Well worth going and seeing.

But it also takes the time to raise money for the RSPCA – rescue animals.
