Have You Checked Your Dog’s Bowls Lately?

Hey Woofa’s,

I was just in my kitchen unstacking the dishwasher, wiping the bench down and doing a general clean, when I looked over and saw Billy licking profusely at his food dishes.

He was trying to clean his dishes as well, such a good boy!

I did have a closer look at his bowls though, to say they were a bit grubby is very true.

One of them is the picture above.

Billy has two food bowls, one for wet food and one for dry food, it’s just how it is.

His water bowls, one is in our ensuite and he has two outside, one under the pergola and one near our garden tap.

After discovering the state of his food bowls, I went and checked his water bowls as well!!!!

Hmmmmmmmm the two outside weren’t great, the one inside I change regularly so was okay.

With the state of Billy’s dog bowls on my mind I got to wondering how often everyone else checks their dog’s bowls??

HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR DOG’S BOWLS LATELY?

I bring this to your attention, not to put shit on you and have you thinking it’s just someone else making me feel bad because of something else on my never ending to do list that I HAVEN’T DONE!!!!!!

I know time gets away from us, ALL THE TIME!

We’re so busy doing stuff that other stuff gets neglected or forgotten about, it’s okay we’re all human here.

I’m guilty of it, Billy’s food bowls were very grubby, as were his two outside water bowls.

The outside water bowls had a tinge of green to them, not good!!

His inside water dish gets checked everyday because it’s in our ensuite and we’re in there everyday, so I make a point of checking it everyday!

All I’m asking is that you CHECK your dog’s bowls, both food and water ones.

See what state they’re in and if they need cleaning, clean them.

If you do enough get the kids to do it, or someone else who loves your dog!!

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR DOG’S BOWLS?

So you’ve taken a moment to check your dog’s bowls and found they’re grubby!

Don’t stress, lets just take a moment to clean them.

I wouldn’t be using any products to clean them, just a scourer and some warm water.

For Billy’s food bowls I did them in the laundry sink, a scourer, some warm water and a bit of elbow grease did the job.

It didn’t take long at all.  If we keep on top of it, it only takes a few minutes.

His water bowl in the ensuite, I did the same and hardly any elbow grease.

The outside water dishes, I cleaned out under the tap with a cloth.

You don’t want to use any cloths or scourers that have come in contact with harsh (any) chemicals.

It’s your dog’s bowl, and our dogs have phenomenal senses of smell, so if they can sense any chemicals in their dish they may not want to eat their dinner from it.

Best to steer clear from any chemicals near your dog’s bowls.

The sooner you start the sooner it’s done and it doesn’t take long to do at all.  It was lucky if it took me 10minutes to do all four bowls.

Now when I walk by Billy’s bowls they’re shiny!!!

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?

Our dogs eat and drink as we do every day.

We wouldn’t eat off dirty dishes, why should our dogs?

It only takes a few minutes each day to check your dog’s bowls to make sure they’re clean.
