Happy Australia Day 2021!

Hey Woofa’s,

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!!

Wow this time last year our Country was on fire!   We hadn’t even heard of Corona Virus YET!

What a year it has been,  not only for Australia but for the rest of the world!

While Covid-19 is still around, I think we’re handling it the best way we can, however we still need to celebrate this Beautiful Country of ours.

WHAT IS AUSTRALIA DAY?

Australia Day is the official National Day of Australia, celebrated annually on 26 January each year.  It marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships At Port Jackson, New South Wales and the rising of the flag of Great Britain at Sydney Cove by Governor Arthur Phillip.

However, to various Indigenous Australians (and those sympathetic to their cause) Australia Day is known as ‘Invasion Day’ or ‘Survival Day’!

This is as a protest to what they see as the celebration of an invasion of the continent by Europeans.  Currently, there are talks of actually changing the date but for now it’s still 26 January.

Compared to other Countries we are a young Country and we get it wrong sometimes.

I don’t believe we should change Australia Day, it’s a day marked in history.  Our ancestors did some horrific things, I’m not condoning that.

However, if they didn’t arrive at all most of us wouldn’t exist!

All we can do is learn from our ancestor’s mistakes and Do Much Better!

However, I’m not going to make it about politics.

I’m turning to the Australia Dogs.

WHAT MATTERS MOST!

Is that no matter what breed, mixed breed or designer breed of dog you have is that it is loved and treated as one of the family.

WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN?

HAPPY Australia Day!

No matter what our political stance is,  Australia deserves to be celebrated.

And that includes OUR DOGS!!
