Did you know that today is National Love Your Pet Day!!  I didn’t : 0

Apparently it falls on the 20th February, every year!

I came across it by accident and had to jump on it.

I mean who DOESN’T love their pet, right?

Given we’re all dog lovers here I’m sure we love on our dogs each and every day, but today is the day we can spoil them that much more.

I mean after all it is, National Love Your Pet Day!!

Today we can focus on giving our dogs extra love and attention……………you know, returning that unconditional love they so willingly give us.

We can give that back to them!

HOW DID NATIONAL LOVE YOUR PET DAY START?

It appears that Aussies have adopted this day of National Love Your Pet Day, from our Yankee friends.

While this is not a public holiday or a recognised  day of significance here yet, it is growing in population in Australia.

It’s no wonder when in 2021 Australia recorded 6.3 MILLION pet dogs!!!!

AND get this, in 2019 Aussies spent an estimated $13 BILLION on their pets – OMG!

We are crazy about our pets!

So it’s no wonder we’re all too eager to take on this National Love Your Pet Day!

It doesn’t matter how or who started it, lets jump on board and adopt this day!

HOW CAN WE CELEBRATE NATIONAL LOVE YOUR PET DAY?

I think this is a no brainer, just focus all the love you have for your pet ON your pet.

But I’ll give you some ideas on how to get you started!

1. Do what your pet loves best, with your pet;
2. Make or buy their favourite treats/food;
3. Buy your pet new toys;
4. Play with you, your pet and your pets buddy;
5. Take them to their favourite place – dog park, dog beach, dog friendly cafe, dog picnic etc
6. If your dog is a snuggle bunny – snuggle with them on the coach;
7. Treat your dog to a pamper session – lots of patting, brushing their coat, massage etc
8. Let them pick out their favourite toy/treat at your local pet store (and buy it for them);
9. Make time to spend quality time with your dog;
10. Give them unconditional love as they give you!

Right, there’s 10 things to get the ideas flowing on how to spend National Love Your Pet Day.

You know your pet, you know what they love – do that and lots of it because they deserve it.

Today, February 20th, is National Love Your Pet Day!
